Amelia Sears is an award winning writer/director with a focus on female experience and feminist subject matter.
She was recently selected as one of the BFI - LFF cohort for the 2024 London Film Festival, where her last short film, Ceres also played.
In 2021 Amelia directed her first short film, THREE, starring Matti Houghton and Ken Nwozu, produced by Long Acre Arts, Seared productions and executive produced by Jodie Whittaker. THREE was selected for multiple festivals around the world Including Vancouver International Film Festival, Exit 6, Underwire, Holly Shorts, Beeston, Deep in the Heart Film Festival Texas where it won Best Lead performance, and Mansfield Town where it won the Women’s Voices award . It recently screened with Directors Notes.
Her second short film ‘Ceres’, written by Hannah Morrish, and starring Juliet Stevenson has so been selected for multiple BIFA, BAFTA and Oscar qualifying festivals, winning best short film at Persona International Film Festival in Barcelona, Best UK short at Wimbledon, Best East Anglian Film at Norwich Film Festival, as well as picking up nominations for Best UK short and Best Women in Film at BAFTA qualifying Bolton Festival, Best screenplay at The Discover Festival, Best actress, Best supporting actress and best short film at I will Tell Festival. It was also selected for the 225 female film club where it will be screening at the BFI on December 5th 2024.
Amelia is working on a number of feature films, and currently has her debut feature of ‘Ceres’ in development with Candle and Bell Productions .
Amelia is associate director of SEARED PRODUCTIONS and has worked as a theatre director for over 15 years all over the world.

Amelia was the recipient of the Bulldog Princep Director’s Bursary at the National Theatre Studio in 2008 and has been on the panel for the David C. Horn playwrighting award for 6 years. She has also taught and directed at numerous drama schools in London, including, LAMDA, ITALIA CONTI, ARTS-ED, EAST15, and MOUNTVIEW.
